ODYSIE (Overdose Youth Safety in the Inland Empire) serves the Inland Empire community by promoting the spread of accurate, actionable knowledge and positive attitudes towards the prevention and emergency response to youth victims of substance overdose. Our goal is to equip your school and staff with the knowledge and confidence to prevent and respond to campus overdoses.
The ODYSIE Outreach Team:
- is composed of knowledgeable volunteers from several healthcare domains (i.e. EMTs, paramedics, firefighters/fire medics, nursing students, nurses, medical students, physicians, community health workers, etc)
- trains community members (i.e. school staff, educators, personnel, etc) in substance overdose prevention and emergency response with naloxone
- travels to community settings and events (i.e. schools, fairs, public health events, etc) across the IE to promote widespread overdose preparedness
- administers surveys to learn more about staff awareness and perspectives about drug overdose risk and response in youth
