Volunteers

ODYSIE (Overdose Youth Safety in the Inland Empire) serves the Inland Empire community by promoting the spread of accurate, actionable knowledge and positive attitudes towards the prevention and emergency response to youth victims of substance overdose. We are looking for volunteers for our Outreach team! 

The Outreach Team:

  • is composed of volunteers from several healthcare domains (i.e. EMTs, paramedics, firefighters/fire medics, nursing students, nurses, medical students, physicians, community health workers, etc)
  • trains community members (i.e. school staff, educators, personnel, students, parents, etc) in substance overdose prevention and response
  • travels to community settings and events (i.e. schools, fairs, public health events, etc) across the IE to promote widespread overdose preparedness

Don’t fret! Each member of the Outreach team will receive a short, 1-hour training in:

  • substance overdose prevention and response
  • naloxone administration and distribution
  • emergency medical systems that respond to substance overdose in the Inland Empire
  • community resources that support addiction treatment, overdose prevention, and harm reduction for youth in the Inland Empire
